I’m very pleased to inform you that the Call for Papers for the FIPLV World Congress 2027 in Vienna/Austria has just been published.
LiP 2027 (“Language is Plural: Celebrating Multilingualism in Language Education”) brings together the World Congress of the International Federation of Language Teacher Associations (FIPLV) and the International Delegates’ Conference (IDK) of the International Association of Teachers of German (IDV). The event is organised by the Austrian Association for German as a Foreign and Second Language (ÖDaF) in cooperation with the University of Vienna.
The conference is conceived as a genuinely multilingual event in which a wide range of languages serve as media of communication, shaped by the participants and their chosen languages of presentation.

SMART-MED: AI-Mediated Medication Communication in Ageing PopulationsThe project explores how AI-generated health and medication information is understood, interpreted, trusted, and acted upon across multilingual and intercultural healthcare settings, particularly in relation to ageing populations, patient safety, and behavioural responses to AI communication.At this stage, we are building a strongly interdisciplinary European consortium involving researchers in:
The COST submission is planned for October 2026, and if successful the Action would likely start in 2027 and run for four years. The structure is relatively flexible, with Working Groups, Training Schools, Short-Term Scientific Missions, workshops, and annual meetings.I would be especially grateful if you might be able to help us identify potential collaborators from COST Targeted Inclusiveness Countries that are not yet strongly represented in the consortium — for example:
Particularly colleagues working in applied linguistics, multilingual communication, healthcare communication, translation, accessibility, ageing, or AI-mediated communication would be extremely valuable.Re timing: the COST Open Call is expected to open on 31 July and close on 28 October 2026. Ideally, I would be very grateful if interested colleagues could contact me by 30 June 2026. During July, we hope to work closely with collaborators to develop the proposal and work package structure. August will be dedicated to refining and polishing the application, with the aim of finalising the full proposal during September, well ahead of the submission deadline.

Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree “Multilingualism and Cultural Diversity (EMJM MultiDiverse)”
We are pleased to announce that the application period for the 2026–2028 cohort is now OPEN.
The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree Multilingualism and Cultural Diversity (MultiDiverse), is a highly integrated, multidisciplinary and research-oriented programme jointly offered by the University of Konstanz (Germany), the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) and the Jagiellonian University in Kraków (Poland).
The programme brings together the fields of linguistics, education, psychology and sociology, providing students with advanced theoretical knowledge and practical skills in multilingualism and cultural diversity.
Students benefit from a unique transnational study experience, completing one semester at each partner university and engaging with diverse academic traditions and societal contexts. The curriculum is structured around three core areas:
• linguistic approaches to multilingualism,
• educational and language learning perspectives,
• sociological and psychological dimensions of multilingualism and cultural diversity.
Each year, the programme offers approximately 12 fully funded scholarships open to students from all over the world, covering the full duration of the programme (24 months). A limited number of places are also available for self-funded students, for whom participation costs apply.
Graduates are awarded a joint Master’s degree recognised by all partner institutions and are well prepared for doctoral studies in multiple disciplines, including Linguistics, Psychology, Sociology and Education, or professional careers in fields such as education, migration and integration, public policy, media, health, and language technology.
